I have got the honor to teach a workshop about Matte Painting in the Universidad Miguel Hernández the past 2 Fridays!!
What an experience! We had a lot of fun at the workshop. It was a bit hard to teach the entire matte painting workflow to students that never seen what matte painting is.
We saw different topics such as making an entire scene in 3D, exporting the different passes to compose them in Nuke, projecting the renders into geometry, and exporting the final result.
This is a quick 3DMP I did as a demo for the workshop, using the 'colonial' kit by KitBash3D, rendered with OTOY #OctaneRender
Here I share the final result and a quick breakdown.
I can't be more thankful to Guille and Mario from the University Miguel Hernandez for giving me this opportunity to show the matte painting world to their students, a part of the VFX industry that's very unknown in my country.
I hope you like my 3DMP, the students loved it for sure!
