Here's a new 3D Matte Painting. This is a personal project to refresh myself on some techniques. I wanted to create something more in the Game of Thrones mood, more "real life" than fantasy or "obvious CGI" scene.
The workflow for this project was:
1- used free stock video footage (credits to Ruvim Miksanskiy from Pexels Video)
2- I made the virtual camera and the PointClouds to get the 3D space of the environment from the video.
3- Switched to Blender, where I made a 3D scene of a medieval castle fortress with walls, a church, some buildings and a forest. Using assets from Sketchfab and Megascans.
4- Made a render of the 3D assets separately, and exported a low-poly version of them. Retouched some of the renders in Photoshop doing some photobashing.
5- Projected the high renders into the geos in Nuke.
6- Made the final compositing in Nuke.
Feel free to ask any questions you have or to reach me.
I hope you like it!
Final project.
